One simple five minute exercise that harness the Law of Attraction

Posted on 19 April 2011 by Dr. Karen

If you’re into the Law of Attraction, metaphysics, quantum physics, higher consciousness or just plain into manifesting the relationship of your dreams, read on…

I’ve been doing a LOT of studying lately. On many different subjects, but all related to two major themes: Energy and Consciousness.

On the health front, I’ve been researching how electromagnetic fields (for example microwave radiation from cell phones and cell towers) can be extremely hazardous to your health. Over Christmas, I became extremely sensitive to wireless radiation (sigh!) and thus I began researching some remedies (yes I found some!).

I’ve also been into knowing more about where our food in America comes from. It isn’t a pretty picture. James, my partner, and I have been watching movies like Food Inc., The Future of Food, The Beautiful Truth and King Corn.

What’s really interesting is how the lower quality “energy” coming from our food today translates, in essence, into a lowering of your energy levels available for manifesting!

Just think. What you eat can be interfering with how you manifest!

It’s all about energy. Allowing the energy in your body to drain away because you spend a lot of time using your computer or cell phone (luckily I discovered a couple of neat tools to prevent that) or by eating low energy food (pesticide ridden produce and meat from stressed out animals) means less energy available to harness the Law of Attraction.

And what does this mean about attracting your ideal romantic partner?

Less energy = Less attractiveness. Period.

As a holistic physician and energy healing professional, I have lots of information and tools at my disposal. I could go on and on about what I personally use to enhance my “vibration”, but I’m going to start by suggesting you do the simple five minute exercise below.

As a testament to this stuff “working” in our lives, I want to share two quick stories. Last week, while I was coaching a couple on Skype using my webcam, the man commented on how I seemed to “radiate”. Also last week, when my love partner, James, was out of town with friends, a woman he was passing on the street suddenly stopped and said rather loudly, “You are BEAUTIFUL! You are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen!”

How would you like to get comments like that?

Well, you can. Here’s your homework assignment for the next thirty days (preferably forever):

Every morning when you get up or every evening before you go to bed, write in a journal at least ten things you appreciate or are grateful for. At least two of these should be things you appreciate about yourself. If you’re ambitious like me, you’ll do another list of your successes for that day.

Most of us go to bed at night thinking about what we didn’t do rather than what we did do. We can be really hard on ourselves. Since the Law of Attraction states that what we focus on grows, I want you to start this habit of writing down all the positives in your life. I asked one of my clients with bulimia to do this on a daily blog and within two weeks I am witnessing the positive transformation in her life. My guess is that it was more effective than months of therapy.

This exercise may seem too simple to be useful. Don’t be fooled. This stuff works.

And make it fun. Buy yourself some nice colored pens and an attractive journal dedicated to this exercise. I have mine right by my bedside.

Let me know what you think by commenting below.

Finding Joy and Meaning Within the Depths of Sadness…

Posted on 23 June 2008 by Dr. Karen

Last Friday was supposed to be one of the happiest moments for my partner and I. We sat excitedly talking to the midwife about our birth plans. Finally, the ultrasound! The moment of truth! When we would see our baby, our little peanut, with its heart fluttering! As my dream partner, James, and I watched the screen, the ultrasonographer scanned the uterus. I saw a big cavity with a speck of something in it. I thought, “that’s strange”. I had done sonograms on pregnant women in my former medical practice, but something looked “wrong”. She scanned everything else and went back to the empty cavity. Finally, I asked her point blank, “are you saying there is an empty gestational sac? (medical terminology of course so I could be absolutely clear)”.

“Yes”, she replied.

Suddenly, tears started streaming down my face. I turned from the monitor to look into my partner’s eyes. He was still “waiting” to see the baby. My face told the story. The ultrasonographer, hearing my crying, turned and gave me a hug and said, “I’m sorry”.

One moment, we were expecting parents. In another moment, we weren’t. I was surprised at the degree of sadness that came up immediately for me. It was wonderful to see that my partner could also be “real” about his sadness too and we teared up together. I feel very close to James, even more so than before.

Despite the sadness of losing our pregnancy, I did not feel sad every moment of every day. I was open to experiencing whatever feelings came and committed to being as PRESENT as possible. What I noticed was that I am able to be both sad about our loss and also grateful and joyful at the same time. There is a big difference between feeling sad and feeling depressed. The first is a temporary energy state and I notice that it ebbs and flows with what’s going on in the moment. The latter is a pervasive energy state that negatively affects your entire existence, so much so, that your entire world is painted grey.

At the same time that there was sadness with my loss, James and I were immediately drawn to all the GIFTS and SIGNS from The Universe that all was well. I feel showered with blessings, as many gifts were bestowed onto me from The Universe, as if to comfort me. I successfully manifested the rain to stop and the sun to shine three times this past week when I needed it. What a gift! The Universe sent me many new clients and patients. What a gift! James and I realized that we CAN get pregnant (James and his former wife didn’t get pregnant for almost 9 years). What a gift! Countless family and friends have offered support and prayers. What a gift!

There is no guilt, no blame, no fault finding. Just acceptance and love. What a wonderful way to experience loss. To be able to be both sad and grateful at the same time. I think they call this state, the state of GRACE. Would I have it any other way? Nope. All is as it should be.

18 days Until Adult National Figure Skating Championships!

Posted on 23 March 2008 by Dr. Karen

James and I have a little over two weeks left to train before our very first Adult National Championships as a pair skating team! We had a great performance last weekend for the local ice skating show. It wasn’t perfect (i got blinded by the spot light at one point!), but everyone watching enjoyed it immensely. So what am I personally doing to maximize my chances of skating well Thursday April 10th? Well, I’ve been doing some practical things like going to bed earlier (rather than working on the computer into the wee hours of the morning!), eating well, wearing my Lifewave Patches (acupuncture without needles device), taking my supplements, and seeing the massage therapist and acupuncturist to help speed healing to my injured shoulder. The way I’m using the law of attraction is to practice embodying the reality that we have already skated well and we are enjoying the pleasurable feelings of having skated well already. To help with my embodying, I listen to my Mind Power Makeover CD James helped me to create whereby I use positive affirmations (for our skating) linked with my favorite pieces of music. I also have a “health” Mind Power Makeover CD he’s helped me create that speeds the healing in my body.

It is unbelievable how helpful the Mind Power Makeover tool has been. I’ve noticed that my skin and hair have changed in the three weeks I’ve been using it. My shoulder is much less painful and I have greater range of motion. Lifts seem lighter and easily for me to perform (one of our affirmations) and we are improving daily each time we skate. It is truly a gift to experience such changes!

The other important thing I am doing is practicing GRATITUDE daily. All day long, I remind myself to feel grateful – whether it be the sun shining or rain for the plants, the checks in the mail, the new patients that have come to me for help in my acupuncture practice, the wonderful supportive friends I have, or the health of my family.  I can be grateful daily for it all.

Are we guaranteed to win Adult Nationals? No, there are no guarantees. Spirit co-creates our reality with us and if it is decided that it is in our best interest to win, then we will! If there is a lesson I need to learn by not winning, then we won’t. in 2005 I had the experience in my singles skating of getting to the final round of Adult nationals only to make a mistake at the end and finished 7th. I was disappointed but it gave me the opportunity to change my mind (my opinions) about how I could win the International competition a month later. I had to let go of more judgments and opinions that no longer served me. I let go of the belief that I had to practice five hours a week to win. We had no ice in the month prior to the International Championships, so I had to travel 2 hours to the nearest rink. I had to let go of the belief that I couldn’t win with such little practice and instead create the belief that I could win because I was well-rested.

Well, it worked.

I skated the best ever (I had some help as I “discovered” Lifewave Energy Patches as well as Dr. Thompson’s Brainwave music two weeks prior to the event) and won a GOLD MEDAL. The practice of being grateful for the OPPORTUNITY to skate at the event was pivotal I’m certain.

So for this Nationals, I have my eye on the Gold Medal too. I learned that I have to intention a win in order to win. At the same time, what I want equally is to skate to the best of our abilities and to entertain the crowd and judges as much as possible….to spread LIGHT.

So if you are reading this, please help me by adding your energy to mine in wishing James and I a wonderful skating performance on April 10th! Thank you!

Appreciation and the Law of Attraction

Posted on 25 February 2008 by Dr. Karen

One of the fastest ways to get what you want is to practice the art of appreciation more often. If you are single and passionately want to be coupled, you can still appreciate your life the way it is now. You can appreciate your independence, your openness to personal growth, your other relationships, and many other things about yourself. I love this saying:What you appreciate, appreciates! This pertains well with manifesting and keeping your dream partnership and deliberately harnessing the law of attraction! When you see a happy couple, do you appreciate their loving closeness, or do you resent them for having what you don’t have yet? If you are a little envious, that is understandable, but see if you can turn it into appreciation. Why? Because The Universe “hears” appreciation as the signal that something is important to you…and it will bring you more of that which you appreciate!

For example, if you are wanting to lose 30 pounds, it is a better practice to appreciate all the slim bodies you see in your life rather than becoming jealous or envious of them. Think to yourself, “wow, I love that person’s body! Good for him/her for keeping it in such good shape!” as opposed to a snide, “Oh, must be nice to be skinny and not have to worry about your weight!”

Let me tell some of the things I appreciate about my partner, James. I appreciate that he ALWAYS stops whatever he is doing to help me find something in the house that I’ve lost (and he enjoys it!). I appreciate how he makes my Teccino (herbal coffee) every night after dinner as my treat and how he lovingly brings it to the computer room where I’m busy at work. I appreciate how he almost always agrees to massage my sore muscles when I wake up in the morning. I appreciate how he walks in the bedroom and greats me with a kiss and hug each morning as he hears me awaken. I appreciate how he loves to chop wood and shovel snow and how I don’t have to lift a finger when it comes to heavy manual labor! I appreciate how he loves to go to personal growth seminars with me and how actively he participates in everything I love to do.

Ok, I could go on and on, but you get the picture. Here’s an idea. Make a long list of everything you appreciate in your DREAM partner-to-be!! That’ll really get the law of attraction working for you!

Love and Blessings,

Dr. Karen
